What does the term ‘consistency’ mean in graphic design?

Every time your audience interact with a piece of marketing material from your business they form a decision about what they think of your product or service. By making sure you are sending a consistent message through your website, banners, social media and flyers etc. you are helping your customers and potential customers to understand your business and what you are offering. By having different fonts on all your items or different shades of your brand colour means your design can look messy and people will fail to understand the message.

Consistency –

  • ties pieces of design work together so that customers of a brand can easily identify the item as being from you,
  • makes you look more professional,
  • helps you to build a relationship with your audience and
  • helps your piece of design to communicate your message clearly.

The wording and tone of voice plus all the visual elements such as the logo, images, colours and layout should have a similar feel across all your marketing materials.

How we keep your designs consistent

We help make sure your brand is consistent across all digital and print medium. Consistency is not just about having your logo large at the top of a page. Your brand is more than just your logo. It also includes your colours, language, layout, imagery and fonts, all working together to create your brand.

If you have brand guidelines for us to follow we will happily work to these. Or if you are looking for brand guidelines to be created we can work on this for you making sure that everyone who uses your brand knows how to use the elements provided.

Our expertise means we will make sure that everything we design for you can be easily identified by your customers as being from you. Being consistent will give your customers the confidence to select you.

Case Study

We’ve recently designed a digital advert for the Hilton Garden Inn, Silverstone advertising their key information and opening date. It matches the pop up banner we did a couple of months back and uses the brand colours of red and grey alongside their logo, font, photography style and wording to be recognisable as Hilton Garden Inn.

The video was created in Powerpoint to enable it to be displayed on the screens at the Silverstone Interactive Museum. It has also be saved as an mp4 to enable the video to be used elsewhere such as on social media.
