Have you ever viewed a website on your mobile but were unable to make it work? Perhaps the text or buttons were too small or part of the page was missing. This type of website isn’t responsive.

A responsive website is one that functions correctly on a tablet, mobile, laptop or desktop. The website has been set up to respond in the correct way no matter what type of device a customer is accessing it from. Your website may appear with 3 columns on a computer and then when viewing on a mobile the content is reduced to one column and the page length increases to fit in the same content.

If you haven’t got a responsive website already then your business would benefit from one. Here’s why;

  1. Better user experience – Mobile viewing of web pages has now overtaken desktop viewing and 4 out of 5 consumers now use a mobile to shop. If their experience when viewing your website is poor it is likely they will visit a competitor’s website instead. 50% of mobile users will abandon a web page if it takes more than 10 seconds to load, and 60% won’t return to the site. A responsive site means no more pinching and zooming, and no side scrolling. It should be as easy as looking at a social media site and the less buttons a user needs to click the better. Making your website look it’s best means your business profile will go up and your business will look more trustworthy.
  2. Improved ranking – Responsive websites perform better in search rankings because they provide a better user experience than sites that are not mobile friendly. If your website isn’t responsive it will have been plummeting down the search engine results (since April 2015 when Google introduced this ranking method) meaning it isn’t found  by potential customers.
  3. More Traffic – A huge amount of social media activity happens on mobile devices now, so sharing links on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Linked In to your website means people will go directly to your website on their mobile. Therefore increasing the traffic accessing your website.
